Futures Trading Seminars: Are They Right For Newbies

First, let me say that the futures trading seminars that I have attended in the past have been informative and fun because you meet with many like minded traders.
You can exchange trading ideas, strategies and just overall talk shop about trading futures. Looking back and reflecting on those times, I would have been better served to put that money to work in the market instead of dropping the cash on the seminar.
Was it worth it? Yes I thought so, but the problem is that I could not implement many of those strategies because I either didn’t trade the markets that they had talked about or I didn’t have enough money in my trading account to actually implement them either because they required too much margin for that commodity, or they were way over my head.
With the internet so popular these days, much of the activities that I enjoyed outside of the actual futures trading seminar, like meeting up with traders and just talking about futures trading in general, can now be done online for free.
During the first two years of trading, I believe that your money needs to be in your trading account and not spending on seminars that you may not need just yet. I’m not saying to never go, but with the statistics that show newbie futures traders failing at an alarming rate during the first two years of trading, I really believe it would be better served inside your trading account.
